The Treasure Chest BY JENN WEBSTER

 

    There were two young boys: One named Mike and the other named Dave; together, those two young boys had been best friends for all of their lives, and yes, each of the boys even had their own mothers!
    So, when Mother's Day came around, they were trying to think up of something that would each make great gifts for their mothers; after all, it had been their mothers who have brought those young boys into this world and have taught each of them the ways of life.
    One day, Mike and Dave found an old treasure map while they were walking in the park. Mike picked up the map and read it. The boys looked all around the treasure map, and then they spotted something at the end of it—an "X" marked on the spot! 

    Mike said to Dave after looking at the treasure map, "Wow, this 'X' on the spot is pretty neat!" "Do you think that we would find the treasure in it?" Dave asked Mike, "If so, then maybe we would find a treasure chest filled with all kinds of gems in it, and then we could give those gems to our mothers as Mother's Day gifts!" Mike then replied to Dave, "Well, as the saying goes, anything is possible! Hey, let's get some sleep tonight so we can be bright and early to find that treasure!" Dave nodded, and then each of the boys went to their separate homes.
    The very next day, Mike and Dave were up early to find the treasure; they each got their backpacks and shovels, and then they went on their journey, following the map as they went to seek the treasure.
    Dave and Mike walked throughout the park, following the trail just as the map had ordered them. They kept on walking and walking, and soon, the young boys got closer and closer to the treasure. Finally, after all of that walking, they had found it! 

    Mike dug up that "X" on the spot in the hopes of finding the treasure chest or something similar to that; but then, all Dave and Mike found was...NOTHING! Mike and Dave had searched all throughout the park for the treasure, only to learn that there was no treasure inside the hole! The two young boys then scratched their heads and wondered how this had happened.
    Just then, Mike and Dave's mothers appeared. They each walked up to their sons and hugged them. Finally, both of their mothers told their sons that their love for their mothers was the very best treasure that they could ever bestow. Now, isn't that a lovely thought?

AND NOW, A VERY SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM JENN W...

    This coming June will mark 5 years since I have left WordPress to focus on being an author; it seems that a lot of time has passed since I had left the blogging world of WordPress. However, almost seven months after leaving WordPress in June of 2019, I began feeling that I had started to miss blogging just a little, so I had thought that I would just do a temporary blog so that I could entertain my readers. So with that, in January of 2020, I launched a new blog powered by Blogger, “Miss Jenn Webster”, and in that first month alone it had done moderately well. 

    However, I realized that I had launched my blog two months before America, as well as the entire world, would be caught up in a global pandemic of epic proportions; a pandemic was declared on March 11th, 2020. And in that time, every single event was canceled, fast food restaurants were resorted to drive-thru and/or takeout, and even department stores as well as every single store in the country was closed, only to open up for curbside pickup offers. Yes, our nation and the world was in a standstill…

    Yet, my Blogger blog stood out in spite of it all, churning out each and every blog post and writing news, from Super Story Specials to news about my Kindle Vella series to so very much more. 

    But now, it has come to a point that it has become difficult to post a different blog post each day when you are trying to publish other things, like a Kindle Vella series, a Kindle book, or even a Tumblr post. Not only that, it can also be difficult to try and focus on what kind of blog post that you are publishing when you have struggles in your own family to deal with. 

    And finally, it has become time-consuming to write and publish a blog post; combine this with all of these other factors, and then, it has gotten to the point where you do not have anything fun to come up with a good blog post anymore. 

    And so, with all of that, I would very much like to announce that I have made the decision to shut down my blog, “Miss Jenn Webster”, in June, and to give up blogging altogether, and this time, it shall be for good; I know very much that some of you are not going to take this news very well, but this was something that I had been putting some thought at for a while. 

    I would very much like to put my concentration now on creating possible Kindle books, Kindle Vella series, and other things that I have wanted to do in a long time, among those is to return to my very first love, cartooning. Believe me, I have enjoyed blogging with all of my heart, but what I would very much like to do now is to focus on other things that are related to my art and writing. 

    I shall announce the June date for my farewell soon; in the meantime, I hope that you stay tuned for some very special things coming your way on this here blog! 

    

The Mermaid and Her Mother BY JENN WEBSTER

 

     It was a beautiful summer day; a beautiful young mermaid who goes by the name of Alanna swam up to the surface and sunned herself on the island sand. As Alanna was relaxing on the sand, she began to think about a lot of things that had gone on in her life; among them was spending time with her mother. Of course, Alanna had loved her mother from the time when she was a little mermaid girl until her adulthood. As Alanna grew older, she began to think about her mother and then knew that her mother was now growing older.
     And so it was that Alanna began to think about this and wondered if she could have one more moment with her own mother before she faded away into sea foam. and so Alanna decided to go back into the ocean and pay a visit to her mother. Alanna thought, If only I could invite her to relax on the island beach with me, then she would be very happy, and I myself would be very happy, too.
     Alanna paid a visit to her own mother, who lives in an undersea grotto; Alanna's mother was finishing making a scarf as a gift for someone who would use it so very much more than she does. Alanna asked her mother if she could come with her to the surface and relax on the island beach for a while. 

     At first, Alanna's mother was a bit terrified, but Alanna then said to her that the island's beach was so very warm and beautiful and that the island above the surface was as beautiful as any mermaid could enjoy its beauty. So, Alanna's mother agreed to go with her daughter to the surface to relax with her for a while; they went up to the surface, and Alanna's mother found that the island and its beach were indeed so very beautiful, unlike any other island that she had seen before.
     Alanna and her mother both relaxed on the sand for a while; as they were doing so, they looked at the clouds that sailed above the sky. Some clouds were shaped like sailboats while others were shaped like, well, fish! And of course, there were clouds that were shaped just the way they are, like clouds. Alanna and her mother had the most quiet, but wonderful time, relaxing on the island's beach and enjoying the company that they had for each other.
     When it was time to go home, Alanna and her mother returned home to the ocean; and then, as a token of the love that her mother had for her, Alanna's mother gave her daughter the scarf that she was making for a very special person...Alanna! Alanna hugged her mother while her mother herself thanked her daughter for that special time that they had together, and then Alanna swam back to her own home, cherishing the memory that she and her mother now have together.

But somewhere along the way, there have been Mother's Day gift ideas that could not have ever made the grade, no matter how good they look or how it would show their mothers that they care about them; the following gallery states that some of the following gift ideas are better off in the dirt...

A GIFT FOR MOM by Jenn Webster

 

      When Tommy was a little boy, his mother treated him with all of the love and respect that only any mother could give, and Tommy could return the favor by offering her all of the love that he could give. Tommy and his mother shared a love that no one could ever forget.
      Now that Tommy has grown older, his mother has unfortunately gotten older, and from there, it became impossible for Tommy to take care of his mother. And so it was that Tommy had no choice but to put his mother in a nursing home, where he felt that she should be well taken care of.
      When Mother's Day was just around the corner, Tommy thought that he should do something very special for his mother since she had taken care of him for so many years; so with that, Tommy arranged a little party for his mother, so that, even though she would be alone at the nursing home, she should at least have company on this wonderful day. 

      Tommy ordered his friends to make cakes and cupcakes for his Mother's Day, and he addressed the rest of his friends to prepare food and snacks as well as special gifts, all in order to help make Mother's Day special for his own mother.
      Tommy himself went to a store and searched for a special gift for his mother while the rest of his friends were busy finishing the preparations for Tommy's mother's special Mother's Day; Tommy hoped would be as special as she is, and after all, she had taken care of him in all of the years, from the time when he was a kid to the time when he was now an adult.
      Mother's Day had finally arrived, and on that day, Tommy's mother had never felt as special on that day as she was when Tommy and his friends made a surprise visit to the nursing home and then showered her with gifts of cake, cupcakes, gifts, and other foods. Tommy then got out his guitar and played it while serenading his own mother with a song while Tommy's mother herself fought back tears. 

      It had since been a very special Mother's Day for Tommy's mother, and Tommy had never been happier; she has since gone, but Tommy will never forget how his mother felt so very special on a wonderful day known as Mother's Day.

How Mother's Day Came to Be...

 

      Well, Mother's Day is just around the corner, and this year, it falls on Sunday, May 12th. With that in mind, I thought that you folks would like to hear the story of how this holiday came to be...
      Mother’s Day, a beloved occasion dedicated to honoring mothers and motherhood, has a rich history that spans centuries and cultures. While today it’s often associated with gift-giving and cards, its origins are deeply rooted in ancient traditions and evolving social movements.       The concept of honoring mother figures can be traced back to ancient civilizations. The ancient Greeks and Romans held festivals to honor mother goddesses such as Rhea and Cybele, celebrating fertility, motherhood, and the nurturing aspects of femininity.       In the Christian tradition, Mothering Sunday emerged as a holiday in the UK during the Middle Ages. This day was originally a religious observance held on the fourth Sunday in Lent to honor the Virgin Mary and mothers within the church.

The modern iteration of Mother’s Day in the United States can be credited to the efforts of Anna Jarvis. In the early 20th century, Jarvis, inspired by her own mother’s activism and care, campaigned for a designated day to honor mothers. In 1908, the first official Mother’s Day celebration was held at a Methodist church in West Virginia. Jarvis's relentless advocacy led to widespread recognition, and by 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially declared the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day, a national holiday in the United States. OUR EARTH, OUR HOME: The History of Earth Day

 

      Every year on April 22nd, people around the world come together to celebrate Earth Day, a time dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices. But how did this global movement begin, and what impact has it had over the years? Let's take a journey through the history of Earth Day to understand its significance. The origins of Earth Day can be traced back to the 1960s, a time of growing environmental consciousness in the United States. Concerns about pollution, deforestation, and other environmental challenges were becoming more prominent, spurred on by events like the publication of Rachel Carson's groundbreaking book "Silent Spring," which highlighted the dangers of pesticide use. And now, I am still in the process of making new episodes of this upcoming series, but the premiere date has already been set, and in two weeks, they will make their grand debut on the Kindle Vella platform! THE SPRING DANCE by Jenn Webster

Kevin had not had much luck lately; for the past few years, he had been trying to get a date for the school's spring dance, but every chance that Kevin gets, he is turned down by one girl too many. Now it seems that he might not be able to get any kind of girl who would be in Kevin's dreams once the spring dance comes along. 

     But now, another spring dance at school was coming up, and Kevin had been wanting to try to get a date for this upcoming event, and it seems that all hope was lost…Until Kevin saw the most beautiful blonde girl on the steps of his school. Kevin went up to the girl, and then they both sat down. Kevin began introducing himself and said, “Hi. My name is Kevin.” 

     The blond girl was silent for a moment, then she announced, “It is a pleasure to meet you, Kevin. My name is Tara.” Kevin was a bit nervous after having to meet this beautiful blonde girl, but then he managed to pull himself together and replied, “It's a pleasure to meet you, too, Tara.” Then, as he had always had when asking a girl out to a dance, Kevin gathered up enough courage to ask Tara if he could come with her to his school's dance. Tara then replied, “Well, I'll have to think about it…but I shall give you my answer in a few days.” 

     Then Tara kissed Kevin on the cheek, and walked away; Kevin just did not know what to say, but he got excited anyway and patted himself on the back. But then he heard the school bell begin to ring, and that was the time when Kevin needed to be in class. 

     At lunchtime in the school's cafeteria, Kevin began talking to his buddies about the beautiful blonde woman that he saw and befriended named Tara, and how he had asked her to take her out on a date to the school dance with her. At first, Kevin's friends were laughing because they knew that Kevin always fails at his attempt to get a date for the dance. But Kevin replied to his buddies, telling him that he thinks that Tara really likes him, because she had just kissed Kevin on the cheek! 

     It was now only two days before the big spring school dance; Kevin was preparing himself to look and feel great for the dance. First, after school he picked up a suit from the cleaners so that he could look good for the dance. Then Kevin makes plans to take a shower and feel clean for the dance. 

     As Kevin was getting ready to jump into the shower, a note written on paper floated in the window; Kevin took the note and opened it. It read, “Kevin, please come to the beach as soon as possible. Tara.”

     Kevin tried to figure out why the note floated in the window, or even why she wrote the note; but Kevin thought that there was no time to question such things, as he hurried and got dressed so that he could be at the beach right away. Kevin got on his bike and headed for his destination. 

     Later on the beach that day, Tara was sitting on the stand when he saw Kevin pedaling and heading towards her way; Kevin got off his bike and at first tried to hug Tara, but Tara told him to back off. Tara then said to Kevin that she needed to show him something right away; Tara showed Kevin the ocean of the beach, and then she rushed to and went into it! When Tara got out of the ocean, she then showed Kevin by flipping her fins! Yes, that's right-Tara is a mermaid! 

     “I just don't believe it!” Kevin exclaimed, and then Tara replied, “Well, you better believe it-I am a mermaid, Kevin! I am the daughter of the emperor of the sea.” “You mean that you are a mermaid?” Kevin asked, and Tara replied, “Yes, I am a mermaid, the daughter of the emperor of the sea. Right now, the emperor is dying, and I have to go back to help my brother claim the throne. Goodbye, dear friend, goodbye and farewell!” 

     Tara then used her mermaid fins to swim back farther into the ocean, and that has left Kevin feeling nothing but dejected and somehow defeated. 

     And so, having given up on finding a date for anything, let alone the dance, Kevin got on his bike and started for home…but then, he met a beautiful brunette girl, who was somehow in his way. The two then introduced each other, and then when Kevin asked the girl to go to the dance with him, do you want to know what she said? Well…she said yes! 

     Now, while this was not the ending that Kevin wanted, he at least found someone that would make him happy.

Spring Into Excitement With "Stagecoach Circus"!

    There has surely been a lot of excitement in the past few weeks, with things such as special blog posts, the ending of my previous Kindle Vella series, Brendella & Mooi, and the upcoming debut of my next series on the Kindle Vella platform, The Incredible 5. 

     And you would think that there cannot be any more excitement to come, well, there is going to be with the new Kindle Vella series that yours truly has just mentioned, and it will make its debut on the Kindle Vella platform on May 6th, 2024.

Suddenly, a golden spirit appeared to the both of them, and addressed to them that their uncle is alive and living somewhere in Los Angeles. 

     After the golden spirit has disappeared, the siblings sneak out of the orphanage to try and head out to Los Angeles on their own; but soon, they begin to have trouble finding their way there. And that was when they see a magical train of stagecoaches flying through the sky, and are now flying down to the siblings to help them!

Red Ridin' Hood: A New, Modern Story BY JENN WEBSTER

 

     It was a very bright morning in the city; there, in a cozy apartment, a young woman named Red, now in her twenties, prepared for the day. Red is not your typical girl next door; she has a love for nature as well as a passion for adventure. Red is getting ready for her day because her grandmother had just called her from her cellphone, telling her to deliver groceries from the supermarket. Red then thought to herself, Looks like I am on a mission today because grandma needs groceries from the supermarket!
     And so it was that Red Ridin' Hood is on a mission to go to the supermarket and get groceries for her grandmother; meanwhile, good old grandma is not just any ordinary grandmother-she is always up to date on the latest styles and trends, thus while always loving to keep in touch with her grandmother. Meanwhile, Red was on her way to the supermarket; but little did Red know that her little journey would turn into something that she would never expected.
     As Red Ridin' Hood kept on walking into the city, she noticed some strange things happening in the park. Red began to see people who were trying to avoid a certain area. Curious, Red thought, I wonder what is going on here? 

     Now, knowing that the curiosity of Red Ridin' Hood always leads her into adventurous things, she decides to investigate. Cautiously, Red approaches the park, and all of a sudden, she sees a group of shady characters who happen to be exchanging mysterious packages! Red began to think, This just doesn't look good!

     Red Ridin' Hood took one step closer to the shady character, and then the shady character asked, "Who are you?!" Red replied, "My name is Red, and I just want to make sure that everything in the neighborhood is alright." "Hey," said the shady character, "why don't you just mind your own business, huh?!" but Red refused, replying to the shady character, "I cannot do that, and I certainly cannot back down easily! I care about this city with all of my heart, and I do not want it to be ruined by your stupid shady deals!"
     As Red Ridin' Hood stands her ground, tension arises; meanwhile, her grandmother was following Red's adventures on her cellphone. She then decided to step in, and began hacking into the city's security cameras to keep an eye on Red, typing to her, You've got this, Red-I shall very well be your eyes in the sky!

     And so, with Grandma's support, Red continues to gather evidence and expose the criminals while her bravery inspires others. Soon, the police arrive to apprehend the shady criminals, and the officer says to Red, "Thanks for your help, Red...You have made our job so very much easier."
     And so, Red Ridin' Hood finally delivered the groceries to her grandmother's apartment, while her grandmother hugged her and said to her, "You are my hero." Red's grandmother could not have been more proud of her granddaughter, who became the hero of the city that day...

       Shella, the Sea Centaur, and her true love, another sea centaur named Rion, have been in love for quite a while; Shella has wondered if this beautiful romance could continue. Meanwhile, Rion has been secretly planning to pop the question to Shella because he has just created an engagement ring out of a pearl and some worn-out metal that he found in an old sunken ship. Now, all that Rion needs is to find the perfect time and place to ask Shella for her hand in marriage.
       One day, Rion sent Shella a message, saying that he would like to have a very special dinner with her tomorrow night at his place. Shella had never been so happy in all of her life! As tomorrow night came, Shella swam to Rion's place so that she could dine with him and share her love with him.
       Shella and Rion had their dinner and began to look at each other with loving eyes; Shella looked at Rion while Rion himself looked back at Shella. After they had finished eating, Rion confessed his love for Shella to her, saying that he had never been in love with anyone until he met Shella and that he would not ever find a woman as very special as Shella. Shella then surprised Rion by saying that very same sentence to Rion that he had just said! Rion was both surprised and happy at the same time, and with that, Rion had found the perfect time to propose to Shella and ask her to be his bride, so Rion got down on his seahorse tail and popped the question! 

        Shella accepted Rion's marriage proposal, and when Rion himself slipped the ring on Shella's right finger, one knows that it is really official! And then afterward, Shella and Rion kissed.

       The next four weeks went by as preparations were underway for the couple's wedding; the invitations had been sent, the cake was being made, and then there was the bridal veil tiara. Shella had insisted on creating her own bridal veil wedding tiara, one that is so very beautiful enough so that she could wear it at her wedding. Shella then tried on the veil tiara on her hair, and then looked in the mirror; Shella then knew that she was now ready to take on the wonderful yet difficult at times world of marriage.
       Meanwhile, Rion, thus being the groom, put on a undersea groom necklace, as well as a black bow-tie, so that he would look so very handsome when he and Shella exchange vows at their wedding; he takes one good look at himself in the mirror, and then gave himself a wink. 

       And so, one week later, the undersea grand wedding of Shella and Rion had taken place; Rion was standing at the altar awaiting his beautiful blonde bride. Just then, Shella appeared with her undersea bridal veil and flowers that she was holding. The music of "Here Comes The Bride" began softly as Shella walked down the aisle. When Shella reached the altar, Rion held her hand as she reached it. And the minister began, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony, to be joiningly united in grand marriage..."
       Then the minister asked Shella and Rion to hold hands and bow down, and then he blessed the couple; then the couple began to exchange their own vows. Then Shella and Rion exchanged rings, with each of them saying, "With this ring, I take him/her as my wife/husband, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, and to always be together with each other until we are parted by death." And afterward, the minister asked the couple to hold hands that have the wedding rings on their fingers, and to bow down again, and then the minister blessed them again, offering their wishes for a long and blessed union together.
       The minister then announced, "By the power invested in me by the beautiful nature of the ocean, I now pronounce you, Shella and Rion, husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride!" Afterward, Rion and Shella kissed, and everyone cheered! Then the minister introduced the couple as Mr. and Mrs. Rion, and everyone cheered again! 

       Shella and Rion are now officially husband and wife! Congratulations were in order for the happy couple, and so many humanoid ocean creatures wished the happy couple much joy and happiness in their marriage; after a small reception, Shella and Rion got into a magic sea bubble and rode off for their honeymoon, but not before Shella threw the bouquet and a baby mermaid caught the bouquet!
       And so, the sea centaur couple is married. Shella and Rion kiss again, both knowing that they are finally united in a marriage as deep as the sea and as pure as golden blond hair—just like Shella's.
